In order to survive

In order to survive, humans being have to cooperate. And in order to cooperate, they have to communicate their Ideas, feeling and needs.......

The paragraph above is one of the subjects that included in English book for the fifth grade.
So, In order to survive myself I will communicate:
1- my Ideas

I am thinking right know how I will be able to live next month ! They said that the government will cut the electricity from Mosul for 15 days.
Fifteenth days without electricity!! Are they kidding??

2- My feelingI am feeling pessimistic right now, I went to take my physics course and when I was getting back home, I saw about three tank from the large size and in the same times there were about two helicopters flying above my head. I just feel that I am in a camp.
It's not a good feeling when you see that. When a tanks or any kind of US soldiers' cars are in the street, you can't see one car moving beside them, All are driving behind them about 12 M.

3- My thought
As I said before I lost so much weight this month. Today I was wearing my gold ring and suddenly I felt that there is something missing, I looked at my finger and I didn't see it.
I rushed looking for it and I tried to remember every one moment from my movement.
Well, it's work. I found it :)

Do you know what? I am sixteen going to seventeen ... I will be seventeen going to eighteen next week. In the third of June I will be seventeen years old. I will be wiser, taller, thinner and perhaps uglier than the year before.

Now, It's my time for watching TV.

Good bye

I agree that people have to work together to survive. There is an old poem in English with the words, "No Man is an Island". It means the same thing.

Why will the government cut the electricity for 15 days? That doesn't make any sense. I hope there is a good reason to make the people suffer like taking time out to make the electric system much better for when they turn it back on!

I can understand your pessimism! I just read a very sad post from my friend Morbid Smile. I think she is feeling very pessimistic right now too. I truly wish that the violence in Iraq would stop!

I'm glad you were able to find your ring! I am sure you were very worried about it. Really now, you need to eat more of the delicious food that you just showed us! :)

Your birthday is the third of June (next week)? Well let me wish you an early Happy 17th Birthday!! :)

I can't imagine 15 days without electricity. Especially in the summer. I wouldn't like going around my city and seeing tanks and helicopters either, especially if they were from another country. Do you know why you are losing weight? You will be 1 year older and 1 year smarter but I doubt if you are ugly. Happy Birthday early.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit…
Rest if you must—but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won if he’d stuck it out.
Don’t give up, though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late, when the night slipped
down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are.
It may be near when it seems afar.
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit,
It's when things go wrong
That you mustn't quit.

Hey HNK,

I'd be interested to know why they are shutting down the power for 15 days. I haven't found anything on this yet, but it seems likely this could be to allow them to carry out some major repair or upgrade work on the electrical grid. Did they say why they're shutting it down for 15 days?

If they are doing repair work, this may be good news, since it could result in more stable electricity after the work is complete.

You'll have plenty of time to come up with by far the most subtle, brilliant, thought-provoking, ingenious, touching and interesting post anyone will ever have written :) Just looking for a bright side. But seriously, since I will not have access to the Internet on June 3, I'll just congratulate you in advance. Congratulations in advance!

TV!!!!!
I have to tell you of the TV program here. The program is a live elementary age children's show. Nothing really interesting until the middle segment. The audience members and viewers have sent in postcards with their names and addresses. The lucky winner will have some kind of game done IN THEIR HOME as part of the program! So the episode I saw, the 3 children with the help of staff members were hidden in their house. Miniature mikecrophones and cameras were put in the places with the children, and in all rooms of the house. the parents were in the studio watching along with the audience. 3 talents from the show, dressed in full costume (a fairy queen, a circus strong man (with inflated muscles), an entertainer-musician came to the house to look for the 3 children. they could look anywhere but they had only 30 minutes!!! If they didn't find all three in 30 minutes the family got about $10,000 USD. The children were hidden in some pretty clever places with the help of the studio staff members. All breakable things were taped or removed. ANd any damage the program would pay the costs and an additional compensation. It was really really funny to see them lifting and uncovering and pulling things out and crawling under and climbing up into all kinds of places to look and meanwhile the clock was ticking.

The birthrate in Japan is now (as of 2005) 1.25 children per family. This is now the lowest of the major industrial countries. While the TV was moaning and groaning about this statistic, and there will likely be a few special TV programs about this topic in the near future. The news isn't quite so grim. There are positive ways of looking at this situation. Particularly if you are a) young, b)educated in certain areas, c) willing to learn Japanese

Happy Birthday Hnk ;-)
When I was a teacher, in Elementary school. the birthday person would GIVE a present to all of their classmates.
The reason I did that, is to learn that it is better to give than to receive. However, everyone can't be "givers". Just like, everyone can't be receivers. If we think of national communities like "BIG people" we could ask, Is Iraq is giving or receiving something?" As is usually the case, a little of both.
You (meaning all of Iraq) are chosen, to receive what the US has looked into their bag of gifts to give. And you, will eventually be in a position to give to others.

I don't yet have much familiarity with all of the Qur'an, but my favorite verse is
"...by whichsoever (name) ye will, invoke Him; He hat most excellent names" (Qur'an 17:110) in the hearts of those who know.
