here is my answer

some one asked me:How can you be sure that Aya's grandfather got killed by bullets of an American soldier's gun?

when Aya's grandfather was killed, he with one of his neighbors were coming back home walking because at that time there were a lot of fire shooting in the area and the americans closed the roads leading to their house. The place in which he got shot in was an opened area and there were no shelters to protect them from fire, there was a shop near by, the shop owner asked them to enter his place till the fire stop but he refused probably because he was worried about his family, he continue to walk, infront of him about 100 m away there was an american stryker, it was in his way home . the American soldiers who were in that stryker shot him in his thight, the bullet cause a severe bleeding, and he fall on the ground , his neighbor and the shop owner tried to take him to the shop but the american soldier shot them, this happen every time they try to bring him to a save place to stop the bleeding , when the fire calm down they took him to a save place and put a bandage over the wound which was bleeding, but they couldn't find a car to take him to the hospital at the proper time, and he died in the way to the hospital from the bleeding. In the hospital they told his family that the bullet has cut the "femoral artery"..

Well, how do you expect an old man - or anyone not trained in the ways of the US military - to understand how to approach armed US soldiers? I mean, did the US authorities bother to educate any civilians about how to behave in situations like these? For that matter, does any of us have any certainty that in the chaos of shooting, one won't panic and forget everything about raising one's hands or anything. These are all nice things to talk about in the safety of a nice warm room in a US suburb, thinking of Thanksgiving in a couple of days. But it's quite different when you're in a situation like the one Aya's grandfather was in.

its terrible what happened, but i think iraqis should start using a little common sense. when there is a battle going on, dont jump out in front of the americans and start walking/running towards them. when they set a curfew, that means stay inside. when you hear gunshots, dont leave the house. its like iraqis getting upset for being shot when they dance around like fools and shoot their guns in the air after a soccer game. after the 483rd iraqi killed for shooting his gun, who is to blame? a little common sense is to be used. dont shoot a gun near a marine unless you have good medical insurance.

HNK, it is tragic that something like this has happened to someone who is innocent. But you do really need to use caution when approaching soldiers who were involved in a firefight. I assume the firefight, because you said there was shooting in the area and the soldiers had it blocked off? Our troops have had so many instances where they have been approached by people who are combatants. That includes people who have approached carrying a white flag. It can be very difficult to tell the innocent from the combatants as the insurgents don't always wear uniforms. Age or gender is not always an indicator of guilt or innocence. So when I say "be careful" or "take care" I mean with the insurgents and with the troops as well.

Take care,

I am really sorry for your loss. Things like this are very different when they happen to someone else, as opposed to a relative. My gues is this was one of the reasons the US soldiers did not try to stop the looting just after their liberation/invasion last year. All I can say is our (the USA) intentions are good and we are trying our best to minimize loss to Iraqi people.

We are in a very difficult position. We are blamed if we don't do something, and blamed if we do. I am sure if the US soldiers had not moved in and the insurgents and made Mosul another Fallouza then all of the world would be blaming us. A large number of Iraqi's stil blame us for not doing more after defeating Saddam in 1991.

Sorry again for your loss. It is very hard for someone (to not misunderstand the US) who was in peace before to have such turmoil in their life.

A little common sense by our soldiers wouldn't hurt either. If you see an old Iraqi man walking towards you, common sense tells you that a terrorist would not be in the open like this, walking in clear view. It's possible that Aya's grandfather trusted the soldiers to understand this and know that he was harmless. That was his mistake which was compounded by the soldier's mistake. And that's how we ended up with this needless tragic death. Enough of these mistakes already. I'm sick of it.

If Aya's grandfather got hit in the thigh by an American bullet, either his leg would have been blown off or a huge chunk of it would have been gone. Americans use large, high-velocity bullets.

He then would have passed out almost immediately and died within a few minutes if the wound was not pressurized.

The man was hit with something smaller and less pwoerful... something that shot out of a Kalishnikov. Maybe you should thank some friendly neighborhood "freedom fighters" for creating this "shaheed".
